Women’s Fund & Griffis Institute offer 5,000 grants for women in business


UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida County and the Griffiss Institute announced that they will award a $5,000 grant to five Mohawk Valley businesswomen.

The partnership is to be celebrated 25 years of supporting women in the Mohawk Valley. To qualify, businesses must be at least 51 percent female-owned and established at least one year in Herkimer and/or Oneida counties.

“This initiative is a first for us and we are incredibly excited to offer this opportunity to women in our region,” commented Diane Wolfe, President of the Board of Directors. “For more than 25 years, the generosity of our donors has enabled us to provide economic, educational and growth opportunities for women and girls.”

Those wishing to apply must do so by Friday, September 30thth, at womensfundhoc.org. A total of five scholarships are available, which will be awarded in November 2022. The funds can be used for equipment, hardware/software, consulting services, training, education and marketing.

“The Griffiss Institute is proud to partner with the Women’s Fund to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Heather Hage, President and CEO. “These grants can help take women-led businesses to the next level while continuing to attract, develop and support startups here in the Mohawk Valley.”

The initiative is a result of concern from members of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Fund, who recognize that supporting women entrepreneurs is also empowering and empowering other women and girls and is changing the face of enterprise and growth in our region.
