Women’s cross country achieves national ranking

BOISE, Idaho – The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the preseason edition of the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll 2021 on Tuesday. The Bronco women finished 14th in the national ranking while the men received votes.

The Boise State women were one of three Mountain West teams to receive a national ranking. New Mexico was fourth overall, behind BYU, NC State, and Stanford, while Colorado State finished 27th.

The women’s national recognition follows their third place in the West Region on Monday, after the Pac-12 seasons at Stanford and Washington.

For men, Boise State narrowly missed a national preseason ranking. Utah State was the only MW institution to make a place on the list at 19, while the Air Force received votes alongside Boise State.

Both Bronco teams plan to end their cross-country season at the NCAA National Championships, hosted by Florida State in Tallahassee, Florida on November 20th. The Bronco women will attempt a fifth in a row after finishing ninth this year, while the men will attempt to recover for the first time since 2014 after missing nationals in March.
