Women’s Bowling will join ECC as an affiliate member

SMITHFIELD, RI – The Athletics Department at Bryant University is pleased to announce that the women’s bowling program will join the East Coast Conference as an affiliate effective July 1, 2022. The announcement was made today by East Coast Conference Director of Athletics Bill Smith and Commissioner Dr. Robert Dranoff.

Bryant, beginning its inaugural women’s bowling season, will be 15thth Bowling member of the ECC.

“The East Coast Conference is very pleased to announce Bryant University as our newest associate member for women’s bowling,” said Commissioner Dranoff. “As the NCAA’s largest bowling conference, we are proud that over the years we have been able to provide a home to many women’s bowling programs and help those programs grow and thrive. Welcome to the ECC, Bryant University.”

The ECC consists of five core institutions, with Bryant becoming the tenthth affiliate member. Bryant will attend the NCAA’s largest bowling conference. The winner of the ECC championship will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

“We are honored and grateful to the East Coast Conference to welcome Bryant University as an associate member in women’s bowling,” said Smith. We look forward to our inaugural 2022-23 women’s bowling season and that our program will have a future home in the East Coast Conference.”

The Bulldogs are led by Morgan Walsh, the school’s first women’s bowling coach. Before joining the Bulldogs, Walsh helped Medaille win an AMCC championship and advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament. As a student-athlete, Walsh appeared at both Fairleigh Dickinson (2017) and Medal (2019) at the NCAA tournament.

“We are thrilled and honored to be a member of the ECC in our inaugural season,” said Walsh. “It’s a highly competitive conference with a great lineup of teams. We look forward to fighting for a championship!”
