Women’s basketball sixth in the WBCA Academic Top 25

ATLANTA (Jul 13, 2021) – Eastern Illinois Women’s Basketball was among the top academic programs in the country last season when the Panthers roster posted the country’s sixth-highest team GPA in the 2020-21 WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll Association of women’s basketball coaches.

The University of Maine, Lubbock Christian University, Yeshiva and Taylor University, Miles Community College and South Georgia Technical College are at the top of their respective departments in the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls 2020-21.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and two-year college women basketball teams across the country who have the highest combined GPAs including all student-athletes on their roster for the entire season. The 2020-21 season is the 26th in which the WBCA compiled the honor lists.

This is the sixth time EIU has been placed in the WBCA Academic Top 25 and the second time under the head coach Matt Bollant. The No. 6 ranking is the highest ever for the EIU program, with the previous top ranking of 7th in the nation achieved in 2007-08.
