Student-Athlete Spotlight: Sam Rossetti, UW-Platteville


Each week during the 2022-23 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a Student-Athlete Spotlight Q&A segment. Why did you choose UW Platteville?
I chose UW Platteville because of my immediate connection to the volleyball team and how keen every person I met was to make my visit an asset.

What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved with?
I am the Vice President of Communications for the PSAAC (Pioneer Student Athlete Advisory Committee) on campus.

What causes are important to you?
I am very interested in mental health, specifically mental health awareness among athletes.

What do you enjoy most about attending the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being an NCAA Division III student-athlete?
What I like best about playing in WIAC is that each team is so competitive and no game played within the conference is predictable. I enjoy playing NCAA DIII volleyball because it gives me the opportunity to play my sport with people who are just as passionate as I am while also pursuing my academic career.

My greatest sporting moment was beating Stevens-Point my freshman year.

Off the pitch, my favorite things to do are eat and chat with my teammates.

What is your dream job?
My dream job is to coach Division I volleyball.

Three things on your bucket list?

A non-sporting talent you have is?
A non-sporting talent I have is that I can juggle.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, which ones are they?
Before games, I always listen to the song “Unwritten” while having my hair braided and high fives to my teammates on the starting lineup in a certain order.
