Foster fathers will support and accelerate the implementation of DRPPA

Pulang Pisau, Kalteng (ANTARA) — Four models of the Women Friendly and Child-Care Village Program (DRPPA) in Central Kalimantan should be emulated by regional leaders in other areas, Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection Bintang Puspayoga said.

“DRPPA is a grassroots program that can bring direct benefits to women and children,” the minister noted on the sidelines of the DRPPA statement on preventing inhibitions and the National Children’s Day celebrations in Bukit Liti Village, Kahayan Tengah Subdistrict, Pulang Pisau District, Central Kalimantan, Thursday.

Puspayoga noted that the four Central Kalimantan villages that became the model for DRPPA included Bukit Liti in Kahayan Tengah subdistrict, Mekar Jaya in Sabangau Kuala subdistrict, Seragam Jaya in Seranau subdistrict and Tumbang Bajanei in East Kotawaringin district.

Puspayoga explained that DRPPA is a village with a gender perspective and priority to children’s rights in its development and management. The village also contributes to developing and empowering rural communities in a planned, comprehensive and sustainable manner in line with Indonesia’s development vision.

“We hope that the four DRPPA models would create synergies between the village head and various parties, including business leaders, in the business community,” she explained.

If the village is able to develop businesses in the form of mining, plantations or other sectors, business players can become strategic foster fathers from the DRPPA village, she added.

“Foster fathers will support and accelerate the implementation of DRPPA,” the minister stated.

Meanwhile, Central Kalimantan Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo said the provincial government is committed to improving gender equality in various development areas and protecting the rights of women and children.

“This commitment is being made a reality, one of which is through the Women-Friendly and Child Care Village program in partnership with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection,” Pratowo added.
