BOSTON, MA- In a race involving 164 runners from 19 different institutions, it was the La Salle women’s cross-country race Liz Mancini which took first place in Friday’s Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College.
Overall, the Explorers finished fourth overall with a team score of 170 points and an average time of 18:00 in the 5K. Virginia took the team title, followed by Northeastern and Dartmouth in second and third. Gonzaga rounded out the top 5 with 171 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Liz Mancini won the singles title in the race with a career best time of 17:02.2.
- She was followed by a sister El Mancini in fourth place with a time of 17:27.2.
- Younger sister Christine Mancini Finished in the top 20. With a time of 10:49.2 over the 3.1K split, the senior upped the intensity to 17thth with a finish time of 17:45.5.
- Jerika Lufrano and Maeve Gimbert rounded off the score for the Explorers. Lufrano stopped at 18:47.3 while Gimbert recorded a time of 18:59.4. The time marked a career best for Gimbert.
