BALTIMORE, MD. (August 31, 2022)–The 2022 Morgan State Women’s Cross Country Team kicks off its season this weekend at the Spider Alumni Open at Polo Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The 4K race, hosted by the University of Richmond, starts at 9:50 am on Saturday 3 September
This year’s gathering features 18 teams, making it the largest cross-country gathering ever hosted by Richmond. Results for the event can be found here.
Teams competing in this year’s Spider Alumni Open include Richmond, Bowie State, Christopher Newport University, Davidson, George Mason, Georgetown, Hampton, JMU (women only), Mary Washington, Morgan State, Norfolk, Richard Bland College, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, University of Virginia, VCU, VMI, Virginia State University and Virginia Union University.
This season, the Lady Bears will take part in a total of five matches. After this weekend, Morgan State will travel to Dover, Delaware on Saturday, September 17 at 9:00 am for the Delaware State Sting Invitational. A week later, the team will compete in the Maryland Eastern Shore Farm Run hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md. at 10 a.m
After a two-week hiatus, Morgan State will be back in action on Friday, October 7 at 3:00 p.m. when it returns to Dover, Delaware to compete in the Delaware State Farm Invitational. Morgan State will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 15 when it competes in the 10 a.m. Aubrey Shenk Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
This year’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship will be held in Dover, Delaware on Saturday, October 29 and is hosted by the State of Delaware. Start time is scheduled for 10am
Morgan State is bringing back four runners from last year’s team that finished seventh in the MEAC championship, including Rachel Feld and Jessica Lamborn, both of whom were successful at last year’s championship. Field finished seventh overall and received All-MEAC honors while Lamborn finished in the top 25. There are also returnees Jalissa Emmensthe 38th and placed Jasmine Georgewho placed 40th at the MEAC championship.
This year’s team welcomes two newcomers Asydiah Pray-Brown from Plainfield, NJ and Aleisha Robinson from Westmoreland, Jamaica.
