LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Rob Miller, Vice President of Athletics for the University of Saint Mary, announced the appointment of Andrew Kelley as the new head coach of women’s basketball. Kelley joins USM from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.

“We are happy that Andy leads our women’s basketball program,” said Müller. “He has a solid plan for success.”

Kelley spent a total of four seasons on the Wildcats women’s basketball team as an assistant. There he helped lead the team to a 90-36 record as well as a regular season and tournament championship at the Heart of America Athletic Conference in 2017, along with a runner-up in 2016.

He also coached and recruited four NAIA All-Americans, 10 All-Conference selections, a two-time Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and a Conference Player of the Year.

Kelley was also the senior golf coach for men and women, where he won six tournaments and coached the newcomer of the year 2021 Women’s Golf Heart of America. He also served as the head coach of the Kansas Eclipse 15U and 16U girls basketball club teams in the KC metro area.

“I am incredibly excited to be named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Saint Mary.” said Kelley. “I always had great respect for this university and knew that it would be a perfect fit for me. I want to thank Sister Diane Steele and Rob (Miller) for giving me this great opportunity to serve this institution as we help our athletes excel both on and off the field. I’m looking forward to the challenge the KCAC brings and can’t wait to get started.”

Kelley graduated from Baker in 2014 and was a three-time member of the All-Heart of America Conference First Team on the Wildcats golf team.

He lives in Gardner, Kansas with his wife, Jess, who is the assistant basketball coach for girls at Desoto High School.
