Nagpur, Human society is divided into many parts including caste, religion, country and gender. India is one of the countries with the highest gender inequality in the world. According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2022, India ranks 135th out of 146 countries in South Asia. Some studies have shown that the prevalence of depression in women is 15.9%. On average, 30 percent of women over the age of 15 worldwide have experienced violence with their spouse.

The Department of Community Medicine, AIIMS, has expanded its health services to Primary Health Center Bela, Umred Block. The Department of Community Medicine, headed by Dr. Vibha Dutt, Director, AIIMS, has conducted an Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) funded project to empower women members of Umred Block self-help groups through the Women Empowerment Training Program. This project benefits about 700 women from the Primary Health Center Bela and the Borkhedi catchment area.

The AIIMS hospital (ICSSR project) decided to give wings to women through a women’s empowerment program among women of self-help (savings) groups. Self-help groups are basically founded for financial independence. The women’s empowerment program will help them to make their own decision in any challenging and dangerous situation. The Community Medicine Department team at AIIMS works under the direction of Dr. Ranjan Solanki on effectiveness.

Equal rights; These are not special rights. Women work both for their families and for society. They just want to be treated with respect and someone needs to listen to them. It’s important to talk to them so they can express their feelings.
