WHEELING – Twelve organizations serving women and girls in the Ohio Valley have received grants from the Women’s Giving Circle.
An initiative of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, the Women’s Giving Circle seeks to empower through philanthropy by providing strategic, research-based grants to support projects benefiting women and girls. Grants totaling $50,675 were awarded to the following organizations:
∫ Augusta Levy Learning Center Prerequisite Skills $2,625
∫ Crittenton Foundation, Inc. Parents Program $2,000
∫ Family Service – Upper Ohio Valley Food Security Program for Older Women $5,000
∫ Oglebay Institute Art Experiences for Girls $4,000
∫ SMART — Center Summer Camp, Girls Enjoying Math and Science (GEMS) $2,050
∫ The Greater Wheeling Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. Female Empowerment Program $6,000
∫ Tri-County Help Center, Inc. Prevention Education in the Correctional Facility $500.00
∫ Wheeling Country Day School Offer Summer Camp Discounts to Spark Girls’ Passion for Learning $3,500
∫ Wheeling Health Right, Inc. Women’s Nutrition and Lifestyle Program $4,000
∫ WVNCC Foundation Emergency relief for female students with issues that may disrupt course attendance or graduation $4,000
∫ YWCA Wheeling, WV ReEntry Program to provide guidance prior to release from custody $7,000.00
∫ Youth Services System, Inc. Transitional Housing Program for Young Women $10,000
The WGC builds a community of philanthropists and creates a legacy to address the needs of women and girls in the areas served by the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.
In its history of giving, Women’s Giving Circle has awarded over $450,000 to projects supporting this area of focus.
