New Delhi : BRICS CCI WE, the women’s vertical of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry committed to promoting active trade, commerce and entrepreneurship among the BRICS and other friendly nations, celebrated its 2nd Annual Summit on the theme “Achieving the Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) through Women Empowerment” today at a powerful event in the capital. Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Honorable Minister of State for Culture, Govt. from India was the main guest of the summit. The Summit was also honored by His Excellency Mrs. Mariana Pacheco Montes, Ambassador of Colombia to India and Mrs. Ria A Sital, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Suriname to India.

The summit also saw the presence of eminent dignitaries such as Dr. Ashok Dalwai, CEO, NRAA, Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare; Garima Bhatnagar, Spl. CP Intelligence (Delhi), Mr. Sahil Seth (IRS), Joint Commissioner – GST, Customs & Narcotics, Smt. Delivering the keynote address Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Honorable Minister of State for Culture, Govt. from India said: “I think Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will be incomplete if we don’t know our history, our society and the kind of work our ancestors did. I think it’s time to revive the spirit of women’s empowerment in our society, not women’s empowerment. I think women are already an empowered group and sustainable development goals cannot be achieved without the equal participation of women.”

dr BBL Madhukar, DG, BRICS CCI said: “We must empower women who have not had the opportunity to receive proper education because it is only through education that we can truly empower women.”
