BIG EAST announces the women’s basketball schedule for 2021-22

NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced its women’s basketball schedule for 2021-22 and an extensive television program on Friday. FOX Sports will broadcast a total of 22 games, including the quarter-finals, semi-finals and championship games of the 2022 BIG EAST tournament presented by JEEP at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Of those 22 games, two will be aired on FOX, marking the second. BIG EAST women’s basketball will be featured on the broadcast network each year. In addition, CBS Sports Network will air four conference matches, while SNY will air 18 regular season games, including 17 during conference play. For the seventh year in a row, the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi will stream any conference game that is not intended for television. FloSports, home of BEDN, will also host all school-produced games, as a total of more than 130 basketball competitions for women are streamed on the FloHoops platform. BEDN’s additional content on FloSports includes Fast Break, the conference’s weekly women’s basketball feature show.

Six teams will open the season on November 9th, while all eleven will contest their first non-conference competition by November 15th. The opening weekend of the BIG EAST game will take place on December 3rd and 5th. The regular season schedule with all 11 teams competing in 20 league competitions in a double-round format.

For the ninth year in a row, FS1 and FS2 will cover the BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament, with the event returning to the Mohegan Sun Arena for the second year in a row this season. Quarter-final coverage on March 5 begins on FS1 at 12:00 PM ET before FS2 takes over for the tilts at 2:30 PM, 7:00 PM, and 9:30 PM. FS1 will pick up the rest of the tournament, with the semi-finals scheduled for March 6th at 3pm and 5.30pm and the championship game set to begin on March 7th at 8pm. The BIG EAST Digital Network will stream all three first round matches live on March 4th, although the betting times have not yet been set.

The Conference is in the ninth year of its multi-year contract with FOX Sports, which owns the exclusive television rights to all BIG EAST competitions. Three non-conference games are included in this year’s FOX Sports lineup, including arguably the greatest rivalry in women’s basketball history. UConn will host Tennessee on February 6th on FOX; Tipoff is either noon or 1 p.m. The Huskies will face another longtime enemy in December on FS1 when Notre Dame arrives into town at noon on December 5th. In addition, DePaul’s home competition against the Fighting Irish will also air on FS1 on December 22nd, starting at 8:30 p.m.

In addition to the Tennessee UConn game, FOX will be broadcasting The Tilt of the Huskies in Marquette on February 13 at 2:30 p.m., title game, with both teams earning NCAA tournament slots.

FS1 conference action begins December 5th when Seton Hall visits St. John’s at 2 p.m. The coverage continues on December 19, with the pirates receiving Marquette at noon. The first nationally televised competition of the New Year will be held on January 2 at 12 noon on FS1 in Providence in Butler before Villanova debuts on January 14 in DePaul (6:30 PM) on FS2. The first of four games on CBS Sports Network this season kicks off on Jan 16 when the Wildcats visit the Golden Eagles, while DePaul follows at Xavier on Jan 23, both scheduled for 2pm start times. The Blue Demons return home on January 28th to host St. John’s on FS1 (7pm) before ending the month on January 30th at Seton Hall for an FS1 tilt at 4:30 pm.

Together with the two FOX-Tilts, five more games will be broadcast on the FOX Sports networks in February, including Creighton at Marquette on February 6 at 2 p.m. on FS1, the Golden Eagles at Villanova on FS1 on February 11 at 7 p.m. and Xavier in Providence on February 13 at noon on FS1. On the home stretch of the regular season, Marquette will be watching FS2 in Georgetown on February 18 at 7:00 p.m., before Creighton and DePaul will finish in Omaha on February 27 at 12:00 p.m. in Omaha. CBS Sports Network coverage will also include the final push in the regular season, with UConn in Georgetown on February 20 and UConn in Providence on February 27, with tip times to be announced at a later date.

SNY’s line-up includes UConn’s season opener against Arkansas on November 14th and 17th BIG EAST games for the Huskies. This line-up includes UConn’s league opener against Seton Hall on December 3, a rematch of the 2021 BIG EAST title game with Marquette on December 29, and both DePaul showdowns (December 31, February 11).

FOX Sports is also home to out-of-market games on SNY. Fans who are not in the market can stream the SNY games to authenticated subscribers at no additional cost. Users must log in with their access data for the TV provider at https://www.foxsports.com/ or in the FOX Sports app.

The BIG EAST Conference previously announced an agreement with the leading sports streaming service FloSports as the home of the SoFi-presented BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) for the academic year 2021-22. Serving as the digital home of BIG EAST women’s basketball in 2020-21, FloSports expanded its BEDN offering to include more than 500 Olympic sporting events, as well as original BIG EAST content such as Shootaround and Fast Break, the weekly basketball feature shows from the conference for men and women. FloSports offers both monthly and annual subscriptions, and under the extended agreement, student and faculty discounts are available from BIG EAST member institutions.
