To improve the lives of women across the state of Lagos, Nigeria; The Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation has announced the start of the second edition of their women’s advancement program with the theme “Catalyst for Change 2.0” – an initiative funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation.

The Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on empowering women and girls, especially those who live in rural communities with no access to opportunities.

At a press conference in Lagos, Bukola Bamiduro, founder / program director of the Karis & Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation, emphasized the importance of the Catalyst For Change 2.0 project and emphasized its role in empowering underserved women and youth in Nigeria.

She said: “We are proud to continue this effective program and to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of more women and girls in the country. We would like to thank the Coca-Cola Foundation, which has shown its commitment to this project. “

During the Catalyst for Change inaugural program in 2020, Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation, funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation, raised 5,000 women and girls in five communities (Sangotedo, Oworonshoki, Ogijo, Iwaya and Magboro) successfully equipped. with transformative professional skills as 1,000 beneficiaries were presented with start-up kits to help fuel their businesses and make a living. The success stories and testimonials recorded during the recently completed monitoring and evaluation exercise showed a very successful campaign that saw the Coca-Cola Foundation fund the second edition of the program through a $ 300,000 grant to bolster another set of 5,000 . contributed to women in five parishes in Lagos state.

As part of the plans for a successful release, Catalyst for Change 2.0 will be rolled out to women and youth in communities in Surulere, Alausa / Agidingbi, Ijora, Agege and Onigbongbo in Lagos State for a period of 10 months from October 4, 2021. aims to lessen the harsh economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, reduce the brain drain of rural women to urban areas by equipping them with business and life skills that will lift them out of extreme poverty and their return to their local communities support financially.

The program plan provides for two training models, which include: hands-on training courses (such as baking, bag making, shoemaking, hair styling, makeup artistry, tie and dye design, and household cleaning product manufacture) and business courses that provide training on the basics of running a successful business; personal and product branding; Accounting; Accounting and financial management; Recruiting customers; Use of social media; Access to credit and grants; gender violence and recycling.

The Catalyst for Change 2.0 program will use education through skills acquisition as a means of transforming the lives of women in Nigeria. Education is considered to be the most effective tool to fight widespread poverty in different parts of the world. This project aims to use education to eradicate poverty and inequality, reduce unemployment, increase income and improve living standards.
